Take in the stunning views at the Montparnasse Tower in Paris
Montparnasse Tower, also known as Maine-Montparnasse, was France's highest skyscraper until 2011, and is now the country's second tallest building.
Maine-Montparnasse was erected between 1969 and 1973 in the Montparnasse neighborhood of Paris's 15th arrondissement. This 210-meter-high structure has 59 storeys. The architects engaged in the Maine-Montparnasse design are Jean Saubot, Eugène Beaudouin, Urbain Cassan, and Louis Hoym de Marien, while the building's construction firm is the Vinci group.
This skyscraper has offices and condos in addition to a high-end restaurant. What's more, from the 56th floor observatory, there's a stunning view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
Visitors can see the tower soaring over the Paris skyline from much of the city. Minimalist design with contrasting dark tones, yet not out of place in the capital's rustic and romantic ambiance. The building's construction was contentious since it was seen to be overly visible against the cityscape. Visitors will save great photographs from the enigmatic black tower that stands over the parks and streets.
Visitors may see the entire city from the observation deck on the 56th floor. The scene will wow tourists when they climb three more storeys. On clear days, visibility can extend up to 40 kilometers in all directions. When night falls, the view of the city and the Eiffel Tower from the observatory shimmers in a sea of light. The Montparnasse Tower is frequently favoured over the Eiffel Tower because it is less crowded and has a better perspective. During your stay, you may browse gift shops specializing in Parisian goods and stop by a cafe to have a drink.
When it was finished in 1973, the tower was Europe's highest skyscraper. Later, a legislation was passed barring the erection of structures with more than seven stories in the city center. Alain, a French urban climber dubbed "Spider-Man," ascended the building without any safety equipment in 1995, and he repeated the brave effort in 2004 and 2015 to benefit charities.
